Rudyard Kipling (1865 -1936) was a British author and poet who was born in India. During his life he won the Nobel Prize in Literature and is well known for his series of stories which take place in India, called "The Jungle Book". I am most familiar with this from the Disney movie, watching the human boy, Mowgli raised by wolves in the jungles of India with his friendsBaloo the bear and Bagheera the panther. It is a bit different in the book being more violent than Disney would obviously want. However, it is also more sophisticated and I think enjoyable.
